Thanks. I don't have the engine shim kit but the shims were checked out at a repair shop a while back with the advice they didn't need adustment and were still within spec.
Anyway, it's no biggie, I'll just live with it. Should be grateful it's still running at all at this age!

Re: Suzuki GS 650 Katana: Best spark plugs to use?
They just stop sparking. Cleaning them up with a wire brush doesn't really help.
Maybe the bike's getting old or the cheap ones I'm getting off eBay (£10 for 4) aren't genuine?

Suzuki GS 650 Katana: Best spark plugs to use?
I once owned a Suzuki GS 125 back in the 1980s, where the spark plug seemed to last forever and rarely needed replacing. However, with the 650 Katana, they don't seem to last nearly as long. At the moment am using NGK D8EAs, as recommended in the manual. What are other people's recommendations for t...

Suzuki GS 650 Katana front forks: Pattern or genuine oil and dust seals?
The time to replace the front fork oil is rapidly approaching. Is it necessary to replace the fork oil seals and dust seals when doing this? If so, has anyone used pattern oil and dust seals for the front forks rather than genuine OE Suzuki ones? Or is it a false economy with them failing early? The...

Re: Suzuki GS 650 Katana Clutch Push Lever Oil Seal
Well in the end, the seal just came out using a flat bladed screwdriver. No need to take the cover off. So it was a quick job. Looking on YT, it seems other bikes sometimes require removal of the cover to gain access to the seal but I was lucky here. Took the bike for a quick spin and it seems to be...

Re: Suzuki GS 650 Katana Clutch Push Lever Oil Seal
Thanks.
Here's a photo of the offending seal I should have posted, rather than my garbled description.
I guess I could try just removing the bolt, take the arm off the splines and try levering out the seal with a flat headed screwdriver?

Suzuki GS 650 Katana Clutch Push Lever Oil Seal
The clutch push lever oil seal (part no 09285-12002) on top of the bike engine on the RHS seems to be leaking oil. By that, I mean the O-ring on the small lever/arm on the RHS of the engine the clutch cable is attached to. Hope that makes sense. Can post a photo if necessary. Is this an easy seal to...

Re: Regulator/rectifier price differences - Are the cheap ones worth getting?
Thanks fossie and johnr. How do I know if the wiring has been updated? The current reg/rec unit ("12v SH532-12 4.0 041 Shindengen Japan") has 6 wires coming off it: 3 yellow ones join the wiring loom towards the engine, a red one to the loom under the toolbox, a green one to the frame in what appear...

Regulator/rectifier price differences - Are the cheap ones worth getting?
Looking on Ebay for a regulator/rectifier unit for a GS 650 Katana, there seem to be a range of prices varying from eg £29 for an MTX brand one to £83 for a 'MOSFET' one. And a range of prices inbetween. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265685989221 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166614073638 What do you actu...

Re: Suzuki Katana 650 GZ choke cable
In the end, none of the above cables worked or were even close so I had to send it to Venhill Engineering, who make bespoke cables. Just send them the old one and they'll make a copy. It cost a total of £30 inc of tracked postage there and back, with a quick turnaround of a few days. The invoice inc...
