Carb Jets
Carb Jets
Hi all,
What jets are you running in your pop-ups?
Im running standard with a K&N filter and Marving exhaust. I just pulled my plugs to check the colour and it is running very lean... anyone else running similar setup with different jets?
Cheers!

Re: Carb Jets
Ahhh crap! Looks like i have bigger problems!
The bike was stuggling to get out of its own way so i did a compression test.... all cylinders low with the highest being 120psi and the lowest 62psi ☹

Re: Carb Jets
Oh deary me.
As for jets , well once you alter the airfilter and 4-1 zorst it is pretty much guess work. But a K&n filter would lean it off but raising the needle usually sorts that. All by the by now really until you sort or recheck readings. After that someone with a dyno is probably the best way to go.

Thanks fossie, the zorst is 4-2 but either way i need to make some adjustments. I'll do a wet test today and see if its rings or valves. Typically right at the start of the riding season.....
If the cylinders are worn then there will be no mucking around..... straight into a big bore kit!!

Re: Carb Jets
Good luck with the test, yep you did explain in a post about the marving.......they were more famous for 4-1 , but when Sito stopped producing they took over their range ....same company probably .....still no excuse for me not to pay attention , old age eh?
Running lean could mean valve damage eh? But was it running lean because the valves were sooted up.?
Any excuse to get this big bore kit
Well played!

Re: Carb Jets
Wet test completed.... 120psi jumped to 150 and 62 jumped to 120! Im now hoping the cylinders arnt too damaged and that the valves just need lapping.... i have also discovered its been burning oil although it doesnt smoke?! Any recommendations for gasket sets??

Re: Carb Jets
If you after an aftermarket gasket set , the better options are Vesrah , or NP , Both Japanese.
Athena is a cheaper option ....but Italian.!
Genuine is the best option , but very expensive and you need to search each part individually as top end sets OEM are difficult to find now.
Again searching for 750 SE , may prove fruitless but 750 ES bountiful.( not sure it comes with a chocolate from paradise before you ask!)
