Re: Eurokat 9
Our gaff is about 350 miles from campsite , it can be done in a day espiecally if auto route is used..
We did Bordeux to my place a few years ago using Autoroute 'cos it was soooooooooooooohot.
We did it in 6-7 hours ...came off at Fresney Sur Sarthe and followed Mayenne road.

Re: Eurokat 9
Hi all,
glad that some of you can still attend - we'll be here to welcome you !
Regarding booking, it's still possible to book a tent space - all the houses and mobile homes were booked but with a tent there's no problem
Cheers,
Alexandre

Re: Eurokat 9
Shame to see you cancelled EK9 for this year Alexandre, but happy you are still trying to do something. I am hoping I can still go, whether with Kryten or on my own not sure yet, will talk to Kryten. I'll will have to wait to book though as there will have to be no quarantine either side for me ( I think that will get dropped as the travel industry here will lobby hard for that else they will have no industry ).
If I go on my own I might go on the VStrom (to keep H company) but if with Kryten then the 400. As we were looking at a stop on the way down my only concern was trying to find that overnight stop, (though if Fossie and anyone staying with him are also stopping over, we were looking at a location where we could meet and do that - see earlier posts from me with the map on it).
As for next year and the July / August argument, just don't use the expensive routes! Even now you can book Newhaven / Dieppe for this August dates using daytime crossing for £90 return which really is not expensive and that price hasn't changed since I checked it in January before all the Covid stuff. OK you'll have to ride a bit further, but just enjoy that ride. Dieppe to (roughly) Fossie's is about 4 hours (with a stop).
As stated in other posts having it in July out of English / Welsh school holidays will bar those with school connections so no Steve and Jimmy and family and, well it wouldn't be the same would it? Also as the Germans have their meeting late May / early June, having a EK in early to mid July might affect some of them coming as so close (would need Pedda's input on that).
