Last Monday headed out to the Fenman Classic Bike show at Winbotsham (Wun-Bossh-um. apparently)
Now this is a bike show that takes over the entire village, it does attract a large number of Hardley Drivables. But still, it’s generally a good day out.
Uncle Bob was intending gong but was busy with family stuff so couldn’t make it. Also none of the NNMCC seemed to be going. So as I had the time allocated, it would have been rude not to have gone.
I even washed the Kat before setting off in, but don’t tell Fossie
As it was just me I took the long way to get there. Across to Fakenham, down the A1065 to Mundford. Then East along the A134 across to the A10 and then into the village. Parked up in a random road junction and fell out the Gloves Helmet and Jacket. Was a right scorcher of a day all ready.
I was immediately accosted by some one who wanted to talk about the Kat. Then another who informed me that I had a non standard swing arm on the bike and that it was a special. Er OK then...
So off to have a look around then. Mostly “fusee en plastique” as Alexandre might say. But a few interesting older things. The school yard was littered with older leakier Brit iron of all shapes and sizes. The organisers must spend the next few days cleaning the oil off the tarmac before the kids go back to school. Stuff that won prizes were 900 SD Ducati and an immaculate Suzuki 125 Stinger. I was going to ask the lady who’s Suzuki it was some questions, but someone asked her if she rode it at all. Her rather prickly reply of “I have Gixxer at home if I want to go fast” meant that as I wanted to get home later on in the afternoon in one piece I moved on.
Had a wander around the auto junkle. Do people actually buy that tat?
“So where are the bloody photographs then?” I hear you ask.
Well it was so flipppin hot my Android phone threw a hissy fit and refused to co-operate....
Then it was time to head off.

Re: Fenman Rally
Kat was still waiting for me
Head off up the A10 then the A149 to Sunny Hunny. For coffee and donuts on the seafront
After the usual chat with other bike (and Trike) riders, it was a good chase along the A149 home although dodging the holiday traffic is a bit too exciting at times.
Kat was in fine fettle, going like a good un. Finished up with a fresh collection of dead flies as well.
Next time I go, think I’ll enter the Kat into the show show.....
...... if only to get a decent parking spot
