550MZ

Post by Pez123 » Tue Jul 25, 2017 9:00 pm

Hi folks.
Just registered on the forum having bought my 550 Kat a year ago. It had been standing for 6 years so needed a bit of work!
12 months on and it's got it's MOT but with an advisory on the tyres. They're OK for now but pretty cheap rubber.
Trying to find out what the favoured tyres are that other owners use?
Any recommendations would be gratefully received!
Cheers
Pez

Hi,

Welcome to the forum, pop into "Say Hello" and introduce yourself there with some photos of the bike.

As for tyres, when I had a 550 I used Bridgestone BT45s. They seemed to be a pretty good all rounder. I am using Continental ContiGo's on my 750 and am very happy with them. Good grip in dry and wet, trade off is mileage, but as I'm not commuting or despatching it's not an issue.

There are a few 550/650 owners n here who will no doubt give you advice and help if you need it.

BT45's on my 1100 and 400 Kat plus TZR250, so that'll be a BT45 vote from me :-)
www.oponeo.co.uk was the cheapest (using the 4-5 day option) for the last ones I bought.

Thank you for all the info. Really appreciate it!
Sounds like BT45's is the way to go then!!

I did put some photos on my gallery last night but I'll try and find the "Say Hello" page too.
Cheers
