I use a ratchet strap to help ease mine in (with help from some rubber grease on the inlets), holds them in place and you can push in one end without the other popping out. Image below is from my 250 but just used the same process on my 1100 (twice as after cleaning the pilot jets I had to take off again to replace the needle valves - why didn't I bench test!)

Also silicone spray like Silkolene Pro Prep can help them slip on.
