400 1200 project

Post by gregwgsxr » Sat Jan 12, 2019 6:14 pm

OK so borrowed a mates 1100 m engine and it fits in the frame! so the 1200 Bandit engine will fit :o
Lot better fit than i thought TBH.
All of the engine mounts will need to be remade, and the tank even with the seam removed will need a bit removing to clear the top of the engine, and 2 & 3 exhausts will need to be angled to clear the frame, and you can only just jut to the exhaust bolts.
But it will fit, may need some bracing to help with doubling the power

Will post some pictures when i work out how?
And will have a few 400 bits for sale including 2 engines and loads of bits, but will sign up as a full member and post them on the for sale page, i get a free T-Shirt right?

This sounds very interesting good luck with the project.I think it's a safe bet that the frame will need some bracing :D

Yep finished and MOT with a few hundred miles on the clock, handles surprisingly well, had it up to 145mph has a bit more to goes still pulling.
The build was relatively easy but i did have a 1200 bandit so that helps.
Modified mounts, bracing around the head stock, and had to modify the tank and some fairing but all in all not to difficult.
