Fossies 250 Kat
is now residing with me. Well - not really - it's at my mechanics garage being fettled for it's MOT.
New fork oil seals fitted, all fluids drained and refilled, new battery fitted. Fuel on, press starter - purrs like a kitten. Revs cleanly all the way to the red line. JohnR did a fine job on those carbs.
Just waiting for the replacement rear shocks (the originals were a tad "soft", to put it politely ) and it should be road worthy.
Updates to follow.

Re: Fossies 250 Kat
Well I did tell you about the soft suspension and forks , being like that for Smand who is not so long in the leg dept ..
But glad to hear it is as we hoped ..but important to me , that the plan isn't and wasn't going to strip it and restore it But to ride it...cheers Gary.

Re: Fossies 250 Kat
Ordered a pair of rear shocks via Brooks Barn off t'ebay on 18/07/20.
Waited a month, contacted them to ask where they were?
"With you next week" they said.
2 weeks later I asked again where they were.
"Thailand" they said "built to order" they said.
"Cancel the order and refund my money" I said.
New pair delivered via FireFox Racing (3 days turnaround) yesterday to my mechanics house - no one at home - sent back to depot.
Should get to ride it in early November at this rate!

Re: Fossies 250 Kat
Carbs will need stripping down, an ultrasonic bath, then re-assembling with Viton O-rings, mine have lasted over five years now using Esso supreme super unleaded fuel, in the south of England it's ethanol free

Thanks for that information. I will check out my nearest Esso station tomorrow.

Nothing screams poor workmanship quite like wrinkles in your duct tape.

Re: Fossies 250 Kat
Pookie you will note from my very lengthy project on this machine , it has been done more than once.
Re: Fossies 250 Kat
GSF34058, even though the Esso supreme super unleaded pumps have an E5 Ethanol content sticker on them I have been reliably informed that they are still Ethanol free, but only in the south east, south and west of England, it has something to do with the refinery the petrol comes from, Fossie, I guessed that if the bike had carb problems a good ultrasonic bath seems to cure 90% of issues, so the rumour is true that your bikes are cleaner on the inside than they are on the outside
