Try out this Japanese website for help, I've found it invaluble for my 250 Kat, if it's in Japanese then Google translate will be needed, there's a whole section on troublshooting the cdi unit, click on 'igniter'
http://www1.synapse.ne.jp/s-hara/bandit/index.html
I do like the Japanese to English translate on Chrome, from that page I can learn..
Do fans really turn around?
Is it possible to improve the weakness of low rotation?
Bill:
I do have a CDI somewhere I'm sure. I could send, though it'd have to be by a postal service that gave a good insurance! It will take me a while to find it in the garage though it you did want to try...
You can get the Chinese clone ones which people have used before (and yours looks like it might be?)

Hi William,
A belated welcome to hell from a fellow 400 sufferer. Mine currently has no sparks!

If no sparks at all , check side stand switch and if yours has the clutch lever cut out join the wires and get rid . Also obviously kill switch ....just join the wires and get rid.

I got a new sidestand switch off ebay, so I am going to swap that out. That is when I can bring myself to look at it.
Mine doesn't have a clutch switch.
Checked the kill switch and readings are correct.
Thanks for the further suggestions. Everything helps.

The 250 and 400 have the same (discontinued) part number 58410-45D00. Bigger Kats have a different part number, as I would think they are longer.
I might have my old cable somewhere, if you want to get it copied at Venhill or similar.
