Hi All,

I am going to see a UK GSX1000S with a view to buying it. It looks very original, round slide Mikunis, Uk instruments and lights. V5 says GS10X. Is there also meant to be a black Suzuki sticker on the headstock with the frame and engine numbers? I think this bike has probably been restored in the past, so it's quite possible the sticker will have gone if the frame has been repainted.

My question, where are the engine and frame numbers located?

The engine number is on the right hand side of the upper engine case, just inboard of the clutch operating lever. Number format is GS10X- then six digits. Frame number is stamped into the right side of the headstock at 45° offset to the centre line, reading from top to bottom. Format as per engine number. Then there is the black Suzuki stamped sticker facing forward on the headstock. Numbers there will exactly match stamped engine and frame numbers on an unmolested example. And should also match those in the V5C log book.

Edit to add: This above info is for a SZ model. I don't know if it applies to a SD model.
