iPhone charging

Has anyone setup and iPhone charging capability on Katana 1000?

Wanted to be able to charge phone in my pocket, meaning a connector probably exposed by seat/tank, then cable from that to phone in my pocket, ideally leveraging switches in side panel so I could still have it working when bike switched off if necessary.

Well I'm an Android man... but...

I have the Optimate flying lead on the bike anyway, so bought their charger with a USB port on it.

Thank you!

Couple of questions...

Do you have this routed via the side panel switches, so you can specifically switch it on or off?
What cable do you use to connect to power?
Do you the charger permanently connected somewhere, or just plugg it onto power cable when you want to charge?
Where do you exposes the charging cable? I was originally thinking between seat and tank, but didnt give it more thought than that.

As I have several bikes most have an Optimate lead directly attached to the battery, ready for the Optimate to be easily plugged in during the winter (I move round the various bikes on a time share). This lead has it's own fuse as it's directly attached to the battery. This is the lead https://www.amazon.co.uk/OptiMate-SAE-W ... 38-8110727
The Optimate USB charger just plugs into that flying lead. That means I can use on different bikes as I need to.
As I have Android I just have a long enough USB to USB-C lead and the phone can go in my pocket (if just wanting to charge it), it the top of the tank bag if I want to see Google Maps or I have got one of these (yet to try) https://q-mount.eu/.
I don't use the side panel switches for anything.
Hope that helps.

Ok, so this lead allows you to plug in usb charger for charging your phone or to plug in the optimal maintenance charger if bike left over winter (I assume that stays relatively plugged in most of time (maybe swapped between other bikes) but generally left in long term to maintain state of battery).

I'm assuming you don't notice any difference in bike usage when charging phone (no battery going low) and do you use it to charge phone when bike isn't running?

I was thinking of using switches as I'd love them to feel appreciated after 40 years, but can see that its more effort than its worth in this case! :)

Absolutely helped, thank you so much!

I have one of those chargers, as I have the input charging lead on all of my bikes. I will have it with me at EuroKat, so you can have a look at it there if you want. 😀

Also the charger monitors the battery voltage, so if you are not running the bike, but want to charge you phone, it will charge it, but will stop if the battery voltage goes below 12.4.
