I am thinking of updating the front end of my '83/1100K. I already did the RaceTech front fork conversion and I have been thinking of going Brembo 4-piston up front. But doing that would be a waste of time with saucer-sized discs and I was wondering if there are easy/bolt-on discs in a larger diameter - using the stock front wheel. Advice, anyone?

if you want to keep the stock wheel spoke pattern, the 400 katana has 'snowflake' pattern wheels with much bigger fully floating disks fitted, so if you can find a set of 400 wheels you can have bigger better brakes but it still looking like a kat unless someone realises its got an 18 inch front wheel rather than 19 inch. the rear is also snowflake pattern but much wider than the stock kat wheels as well as being lighter. and is 17 inch as the stock 1100wheel is.

Measure the central hole size, bolt spacings and offset. Call/email EBC brakes and see if they have anything in a larger diameter. Call Harrison billet calipers with dimensions and get them to make you some calipers. Sorted.

I would presume that calipers with more pistons would be bettter, even with the standard size disc.

Surely you would need bespoke caliper brackets regardless of whether you fit different calipers or different discs?

I seem to recall that before Sparki did his conversion he had a set of Nissin calipers on the stock wheels, he had a set of brackets on them and I’m sure he said they weren’t perfect and needed shimmed out.

I remember him having some brackets made by a Japanese company that I can't remember the name of. They didn't seem to make a vast array of aftermarket parts but the ones they did were pretty tidy. I was gonna go down the same route and bought a set of Nissan calipers but the Japanese company seemed to have stopped trading and disappeared.

It might well have been Jim but I couldn't swear to it. I was that annoyed I must have wiped my brain clear
