Will a Gsx1100e or Es top yolk fit straight on?
I'm looking to putting some form of handlebar option onto my GSX1100SD but I do not wish to drill risers onto my standard yoke as I hope to return to standard look clip ons if my wrist & thumb operations go well.... after all, the Kat is supposed to be a café racer style. The conversion will also aid me with manouvering the heavy beast around but I am reluctant to bastardise the original yoke if at all possible.
Any advice will be gratefully received.

If you use the custom yoke guy near Lancaster, his work is good,but takes several months. If you enquire as to progress, he is rude. If you can live with that...

I've noticed over the years that a lot of bike mechanics seem to have their own concept of time, as we mere mortals struggle through life with seconds, minutes, hours, days, months and years the average motorcycle mechanic seems to be stuck in a time loop that never seems to end, when I first got my baby Kat my local friendly bike technician took three months to ultrasonically clean the carbs, I had to sorn the bike for a while because the tax and mot ran out!

Noted & I completely understand your inference.
If, when placing orders, a time is agreed, then delivery should be expected by that date & time at the latest, however, sometimes there are extenuating circumstances which cause delays & although an understanding of these reasons is a somewhat benevolent act, it still is disappointing, frustrating & problematic if it causes further work or a future date to be rearranged.
Orders are all based on an agreement between relevant parties as I know from my experience of project managing & the increase costs of delays & penalties due to those services which are planned to follow.
As long as we all understand & persevere to honour that delivery time when ordering, then an honourable agreement has been made, but there are times that a "couple of months time" from a supplier is stretched & occasionally abused.
It is good to hear from others' true experiences when ordering from any supplier & therefore an informed decision may be made prior to relying on that supplier & an alternative choice can always be made.

chain driven gs1000 top yoke has the same dimensions as the kat one so will fit directly on the kat forks but allow you to fit conventional handlebars without making any further modifications.

dont be tempted to go for the shaft drive gs1000g its got different dimensions, but the chain drive one will drop straight on.

Thanks to all for your helpful advice & to johnr in particular, I am grateful for you pinpointing the chain-driven GS1000 top yoke so I am on the hunt for one of those;
however,
I recalled that I once owned a couple of Yamaha XS1100 models...
.. & one had " awful to live with when off track " clip-ons when I initially purchased it!!
They had to be changed for road use but I know for certain I retained them when the "Excessives" moved on to newer homes & a little research confirmed the XS also wore 37mm diam. forks.

I shall now attempt to find this fine pair amongst my spares cavern before I order a top yoke & hope they have a higher rise than the standard Big Kat.
70mm Multi-adjustable diameter 37 mm clip-ons for not a lot more £'s than a used GS top yoke sounds good, I only wish I still had my lathe & miller but for under £80 I think it will be worth taking the risk despite not being as high as standard handlebars. These clip-ons may provide me with what I seek but I have experienced similar in the past as I
have different models of GPz900R, some with lower & forward bars as per European models & some with closer & higher mounts as per the USA/Canadian models.
The great bonus will be to keep the Café Racer look, which is important
to me & a vital aspect of what the Katana is about.
