New 650 Kat

Post by BanditAl » Mon Oct 24, 2011 4:24 pm

I have been Katless since April when I sold my 1100SD. I picked up my new 650 today from Castleford and it's a beauty.
It's Walt's old bike and it goes as well as it looks.
Can I ask the 650 experts should it have bar end weights as it only has enclosed rubber grips.

Hi Al are going to clean the paint off the rims and edges , repaint the brakes in correct colour , replace katana logo in the correct colours , or are just going to ride it as an indvidual take on the 650?

Seroiusly though nice to see Waltfens work going to someone who will appreciate it .
Just keep it longer than you normally do!!!¬

Fossie,
Quite happy with the wheels and the brakes although they are quite eye catching, thought the logos on the side panels also looked a bit bright, again not really bothered. I'll check to see if they have been lacquered over and if not I will probably change them for the correct items as it's an easy fix.
Not knowing anything about the 650's should they have bar end weights as opposed to closed end rubber grips.

None of my 650 have had bar end weights, but I was considering it at some point as 'Katana hand' still gets through (though not as bad as my 750's and that's got weights on it).

if bars are correct then they are filled and bar end weights cannot be fitted.

The brakes should be orangey red same as seat as should the tank graphics.

Bobster,
Was it you?
The guy said when the bike was on e-bay somebody contacted him and offered him a chrome 4 into one and £200 for the system.
I said I thought £500 to £600 and a brand new chrome 4 into 1 system would have been nearer the mark.
Cheers

Guess thats a No then!................that pr1ck who sold you the bike didnt have a clure what day it was let alone what he had. I actually offered to swap a set of Suzuki 4into 2 GS650gt exhausts and some money..........but now I have Waltfens old original black chrome exhausts.......but I am still after some mint NOS ones like on your new ride!

Very nice bike by the way!
