I've been hatching a plan all week, luckily I'm a key sector worker so I'm going to ride the bike to work next week, I've even got a letter from my employer to show the old bill if I get pulled up, just like getting a note from your mum excusing you from P.E when you were at school :)

Wow, thats crazy. We here in California, they suggest you stay home, but that's about it. I'm a essential worker so I'm OK to zip around as I care.
82 Katana 1000 (work in progress, but she will be beautiful she has a dedicated sugar daddy)
2010 Z1000 (50k miles, I think that is like 60 Kilometer's or so)

That's not what government advice says, and it is 'advice'..........

I can't work from home and in line with the guidelines I simply travel to work (4-5miles away) and at this moment in time no Police bod could change that - if you are travelling hundreds o f miles on a jolly thats totally different
Problem like most things is certain people interpret it how they want including those who wish for us to be like a Police State......

Have a read of this which explains it the best I have found, what they would 'like' you to believe and what is actually the reality are very different......

I'm not suggesting you shouldn't follow the advice but just that most of it is exactly that, advice

Now I know someone who just rides around all day everyday..the roads around his area are clear, his fuel is paid for, just riding around listening to the radio. No hassle from anyone , indeed vehicles move over and people wave 8-) Urgent Blood all over his Vstrom does help.
The downside his his journeys take him from hospitals and medical centres to a Blood Lab and this wouldn't be anyone's choice of destinations at the moment ;) probably .
Yep me! It is all very strange at this time because both Smand I are just doing our normal jobs ....granted the hours are changing and they could be high considered higher risk occupations , but
How lucky are we ? :|

Fair play @fossie

Have approx halved my normal hours and was toying with somethng similar but having potentially 'at risk' peeps in the household has made me waiver for the time being......

It's just my job I have been a courier for nearly 30 years ...but working for this blood lab for nearly 10 years....my missus is a NHS nurse , so we are equal risk too each other.....but normally it's more in her favour!

As riding a motorcycle can be an inclusive thing anyway the rule on unnessesary journeys is only there in case some f-wit pulls out in front of you and you end up putting more of a burden on the NHS

I thought you might be still riding around Fossie, apart from destinations as stated, you are lucky! You'll be even luckier when it starts to warm up again. Although I haven't used my bike much (see below) it has allowed me loads of garage time over Easter (on the PC50 rather than Katana though). Unfortunately work will call again tomorrow, no furlough for me.

My mum's 81 so I have used her as an excuse to use the bike to take her some shopping and she lives 25 miles from me in a direct route but a little diversion on the way shouldn't too much should it? Also my in laws are in their 80's - 15 miles away so another excuse and I also have a friend in his 80's (still rides a VFR750 when he is allowed) who said a pint of milk is always useful and he is a fair distance as well.

Someone did mention to me I could probably claim a ride on the TZR was exercise and I'll probably have to push it home

Whatever the excuse, enjoy the ride when you can (within the rules).
