The TL was 25mph slower than the 'Busa (if that matters) but had bags of character. It tingled at 60mph then cleared at 70mph - like a speed warning. I could guess the speed I was doing just by the feel of the bike and was never far out when I did check the speedo. When I thought I was doing 60mph on the 'Busa, it was doing 90mph.
The 'Busa was effortlessly quick, but just plain dull. And it was actually more uncomfortable for me than the TL. In the end I had to lower the foot pegs (as did many - I think there was a national shortage of Buell foot rests!) to stop my legs from cramping-up on a relatively long (400 miles total) ride. I rode from Rotterdam Europort to Hamburg on the TL with no problem. And from there to Oschersleben. And back.
The 'Busa experience actually put me off modern bikes - I haven't owned one since!

I rode a TLS and really liked it, then a few years later a TLR and don't know why didn't like it so much.

Yes, for some reason, which I can't remember now, I didn't like the TLR either. I had a ride from London to Chester and back and it wasn't a memorable ride at all. IIRC, the motor felt a bit flat and the bike seemed quite heavy.
