1st thousand miles

Post by SamK » Wed Jan 27, 2021 10:21 pm

So that’s me clocked up the first 1000 miles... it helps living in Spain.
Loving this bike so far.. the motor can pull smoothly from 40km/h (25mph) in top gear.

What I’ve done/added -
Full set of luggage.. I have no car
Bar end mirrors.
Lowered backend 40mm and handlebars raised 20mm - these combined give, to me, a much nicer riding position. I felt that I was leaning over the front wheel before.
Shorter side stand.
Heated handlebars.. the ones that go inside the bar. The standard handlebars have a 17mm internal diameter only as far as the bar end weights go in, it then becomes much smaller, so they had to be drilled out.
Rizoma Leggera front indicators. Much smaller.
Red stripes for the fairing and seat cowl.
USB power to handlebars for phone.
Replaced footrests with rubber ones.
Carbon effect tank pad and side panels covers.

Planning to be done -
I’ve ordered a screen with a mobile mount bar from Japan. Supposedly designed to mimic the original. This will also put my phone in a better position for seeing the sat-nav.

De-cat the exhaust - I have the kit here already, but I’m happy enough with how the bike runs at the moment.

Tidy up the rear fender - either a regular tail tidy or reduce the bulk of the original... there’s way too much plastic

Fuel economy.
I’ve been running the Fuelly tracking app and it’s saying my average fuel usage is 55.0mpg.
Tank range before fill-ups has been between 115 and 130 miles.
Theoretically I should get 145 miles before completely dry.

Good stuff!

Are you able to travel where you are? Or is essential journeys you’re doing?

The only travel restrictions are that the regional borders are closed and there's a curfew 10pm-6am
That still leaves a land area slightly bigger than Wales, although once you leave the coast a few kms the temperature drops noticeably.

Cant wait to see it with the new faring, that's one thing I didn't like about the Kat reboot.

Agreed, make sure to post pictures of it!
It's faster to break than to repair.

Hi Sam, have to agree, they ride and perform really well. The induction raw is ace. Love mine but haven't done a 1000 miles yet
