a christmas carol?

Post by johnr » Fri Dec 23, 2011 10:51 pm

ok, not quite dickensian, and i'll resist the obvious misspelled dickensian motorcycle bastardisation of the opening line, ok, i wont, 'harley was dead to begin with,,,,,,,,,' but i digress, im not the easiest person to get along with and even i admit im a nightmare of bad temper and short fuse these last few months, but this xmas was shaping up to be like most of the last dozen, with me working and just not getting along with it too well, and loathing christmas because im once more not permitted to actually spend the bulk of it at home with my family. then suddenly, today after another drag at work, i came home not to the traditional three ghosts and moral fairytale of victorian philanthropy, but to a small package sent from a member of this club. it was unannounced and not in the least bit expected, when i opened it there was a small hand made gift from the person who im not going to name. but it was such an act of kindness that i was completely overwhelmed by it. and its changed my whole christmas. it couldnt be more precious if it were made of the most exotic materials and studded with gemstones.
whilst im not the reformed character that scrooge is in the novel, and im not going to gush on about 'god bless us everyone' etc. all i will say is, thank you, you know who you are. i will always cherish this gesture.
