Might be wrong

There's no import duties on EU goods at all, and you're paying VAT at country of origin.
Unless you're a VAT registered company that is...

I don't mine the paying the duty but the admin fee hacks me off. I bought a Madstad bracket for the VStrom for £60, so there was £3 (or so) tax and they charged me £8 to collect it! I think when they calculate the tax they also add the postage price to the total for the percentage. Again low cost (or maybe small) seems to go through - I got the "pistons" that go round the bottom of the fork legs from Ebay USA and no charges and the total with postage was about £18 - it's a gamble really.

A lot depends on the shipping method too, if you get it sent by EMS or equivelant you're more likely to get collared. If non urgent try getting it shipped via surface mail as a) it's cheaper & b) less likely to get caught by customs
