whats a 750 motor worth?

Post by spondonchris » Mon Apr 27, 2015 6:00 pm

Thought I would ask here. Hope you dont mind. The motor out of my 750 Kat will be up for sale soon as I will be starting the strip for the modified bike. I was going to put her on the road as a 750 for the summer, so I have got her running, but although I have spent a bit of money on her, I would still need to spend more on a few more bits and then insurance, tax, MOT, so decided to put the money to the new build instead.
Would prefer it went to someone in the club, but am pretty sure everyone wants bigger motors not 750
Any ideas on value?

Maybe £100 for a runner bud. Oil pump gears are worth £50

I didn't think it would be worth much. Bit more than a boat anchor though

Its a shame as Ive just put new oil and filter in and cleaned her up!

Do you know if it is a runner , if so I'd be interested , I have one as a spare. But it is unknown so if one was to be plundered , it would make sense to keep yours as a spare and strip my unknown spare.

Yes Fossie, I have just got the bike running as I was going to put her on the road, hence the new oil and filter etc as the bike had been stood for a long time, but thinking it may be best to not spend any more as I still need to get MOT, Tax and insure her. It would be good if the engine stayed in the club as I got the bike from a club member - Katgeezer, in the first place

I just sold my 750s2 motor last month on ebay. It was a good strong engine, but I had chance of a cheap Cosworth 1170 tuned motor, so I decided to sell it. I would have been happy to get £100 for it, but it went for £183!!! . The bloke who bought it came up from Heathrow to Barnsley, he was very happy with it, saying it was cleaner & in better condition than his tired 750et motor.
So it goes to show, there are people out there still wanting the 750 motors..

Nice one, good sale then.
If someone is happy with 750cc and doesn't want a 1600turbo nutter then they'll pay proper money for a good engine.
It's just that most of want more than 750...... :D

that was a good price. Have seen them advertised for £200, but they dont seem to move too quick at that level

was that bare motor, no carbs?
