Yesterday I was meant to be looking after my little 'un while the missus was at a art show she is in, in the centre of Norwich. The missus was ill so I had to go and man her stand, so I was in Norwich when I shouldn't have been. At lunch time I wandered out to go and find something to eat. I was just on the phone to the missus giving her an update when this person over takes me, turns round and says "Uncle Bob" in a french accent. My eyes were telling me "that's Alexandre" but the brain was saying yes but he lives in Bordeaux in France - it took me several seconds to process it was Alexandre (who runs the French Katana Club for those who do not know)!
I couldn't believe it. He had forgot I lived in Norwich and had brought his parents over to a party as his mum has a relative in Blakeney on the North Norfolk coast and they were staying in Norwich (well north of near the airport).
What are the chances of that happening, just crossing paths in Norwich just at the right time for him to see me (when I shouldn't have even been there!). It still feels surreal now, esp. as I only saw him in Denmark about 3 weeks ago.
Anyway, had lunch with them and we might pop to the David Silver Honda Collection ( http://www.davidsilverhondacollection.co.uk/ ) tomorrow, if his parents are up to it. He has a Lotus Elise also, so has a factory tour planned as well, before heading home.

Re: What a coincidence!
Wow t'is indeed more than coincidence. Is it fate or serendipity ?
A few weeks ago a similar kind of thing. But no where near as wow. However my son was coming up from Kent on Friday, now as you know I live just off junction 21 of M6 so almost a straight run from Gravesend if you get my drift... But it's 1745 hrs I'm obviously at work heading back to the lab when the phone rings, being blue toothed up I answer it , it is Kevin ....I think we are lost ... How???? Short answer sat nav!
Anyway I ask where he is what can he see, Mancunian way ...can you see new build flats that look that like old mills ...yes are they on your right or left.....right.....can you see a motorbike filtering through the traffic to the traffic lights ....yes ....is he waving ....yes ...that's me! I'll stop in the bus stop ahead of you and sort it out!
Unreal eh? Minutes either way and we would have missed each other!
A similar story will be in The next Pride !
Indeed petit monde.

Re: What a coincidence!
me and sue were in france in the 1990s, we had the kids with us in an old sidecar outfit. this was pre sat nav, pre mobile phone, indeed, the most technically advanced thing we had was cdi on the bike. anyhow, at the time we were both working for the nhs in a large out of town victorian asylum. so, we had been in france a fortnight and as non french speakers aside from a handful of disjointed words, we were suffering from a bit of cabin fever. anyhow, we bought a small transistor radio so we could have a bit of background music and would search in the evening for english language stations. when we got up to near le touquet we stopped in a small site, empty but for us, we put the kids to bed and got a bottle of wine, turned the radio on and heard a voice in english. it was the bbc world service and was nice to hear an english voice. thee news ended and a documentary starteed. after about 30 seconds i realised that i recognised the voice talking. it was a documentary about the hospital that we both worked in, broadcast late evening on the world service, i wouldnt have ever found it by choice, it was a complte fluke that we tuned into it.
