Not sure how this passed me (us?) by, but Jan Fellstrom passed away spring 2022, nearly a year ago.
By chance I saw a post from Taiwan that mentioned it (from a university Jan had worked in for a little while).
For me he was the designer of the Katana, his name is under every design sketch I have seen. He is buried in the Black Forest near to where he lived - maybe one day a German Katana Rally will be down that way (or even a EuroKat) so I have a dual excuse to visit that area.

That low angle shot of the 1100 with the stubby pipes looks great. But the production seat looks better.
