PC woes

I turn everything off in msconfig startup. Most of the shite in there is programes checking for updates etc.

be careful whay you change in there if you don't understand what it all does.... if you stick to the startup tab it should be ok but leave the others if yer not certain what does what

Yep had Kaspersky, tried avast, avg but like Pete they all slowed pc down + kaspersky didn't like ZoneAlarm Pro that I had.

Settled on Avira but even that seemed crap after a while.

Norton was pre-installed on pc when new & cos I reset it it's back...it found 32 virus's that Avira didn't (blooming downloads NOT porn) eer allegedly officer.

Thing with this norton is there's only the live update in add/remove progs

I use Norton 360, have done for a couple of years, not had a virus at all, (touch wood). I know it costs , but it seems to work for me. looks after itself and doesn't slow the system down, apart from when doing a backup of my system to an external drive. Like Cold snail said Norton is a bugger to get rid of once there.
