New Katana ?
Re: New Katana ?
Unfortunately bikes are going the same way as cars and the reason it will be a twin is to keep the emissions low, seems a supercharger is favourite as well because it's worked on the Kawasaki H2, don't think brexit will save us neither as the EU will still call all the shots regarding emissions and noise, these are sad times with even sadder ones to come.

Re: New Katana ?
theyve been here before though. wont they ever learn. whilst it might make engineering sense to take a small engine and then boost it with a turbo to give the power of a bigger bike, the xn85 was a failure alongside the cx turbo and the xj turbo, because nobody wants a small bike with big bike power that costs more than the bigger bike anyhow. only kawasaki had the right sort of idea, then as now, going for making decent performance with the turbo. so here we are again, will they bottle it this time?

They could be thinking of a full power Busa motor in a retro chassis look a likey with the Busa’s electronics which on the last model was quite advanced? Now if I had the money I would buy a bike like that!
There rubbish them Jap bikes lad they won't last five minutes! you want to get yourself a nice Royal Enfield!

Re: New Katana ?
What they need is proper retro ....stuff the f.....g electrics , put ABS where it belongs in a skip.
But then this new bike won't be expected to have the longevity of the original Kat , so who will care about the unrealibity of these item past 40 000miles!
As a foot note in '92 I considered a VX800 and a mate and I drew up ways of attaching Kat bodywork...it never happened.....maybe now! Ahead of my time eh?
( the fuel tap is the same part number as Kat choke. So the clues were there

Re: New Katana ?
I've always liked the Busa, I remember when the first one was released. I went to the bike show at the NEC and was blown away with the looks but not the weird white/gold colour scheme? I've ridden a mates bike a few times and can honestly say it's the best bike I've ever ridden, it even handled quite well for a big old girl. I'm very tempted with the latest gen2 bike apart from the fat wheelie bin exhausts.Blix wrote:I have a Busa, it has ABS which isn’t great but no traction control and no longer Euro compliant unfortunately.PaulD wrote:They could be thinking of a full power Busa motor in a retro chassis look a likey with the Busa’s electronics which on the last model was quite advanced? Stonking motor though, I personally would recommend it despite the looks, but it’s not light.

Re: New Katana ?
Had this article a while, but the fact Suzuki register the logo in black with name protection means they are serious......however does it mean those who have a black custom logo already on their machines are now liable for being sued???
Anyway the article gave a possible outline of bike and machine ....
If this is it ..NO ,,

Re: New Katana ?
all the clips ive seen are of the same bike that was built by a french magazine as a styling exercise to see what a modern kat would look like.
