I've done a couple of powerjacks on laptops, so I would keep it and spend six quid on a new socket.

Can't be arsed with it, just collecting dust , wouldn't read the CD's , because of some program was......... woteva .
No good as a door stop ,
At the end of the day 6 quid to you 'cos you know where to go , I don't know where or what to ask for , then if it got power I'd have to wipe it clean and re install , Sharp sticks and eyes comes to mind!!

power socket repair is piece of cake fossie. tut tut. A man of your skills and all that.

I have just sold a couple of my sisters old Sony laptops. One had water spilt all over it. And the other had a dodgy graphics chip (common prob). Not worth repairing. Flogged em both for about 50 quid each :) Both buy it now's. And both of em went within half an hour of putting em on ebay :) Took both of the hard drives out as well. Dont want some wanker reading where i get my porn from !!!

Yeah, did check that out Steve. Was a while back and these ones were not covered.

Cheers anyway.

Daughter had a Sony Vaioueiuooo or something like that.

Was never the same after she left a set of Hair Straighteners** on it. It survived the first couple of episodes but eventualy the keys welded together were just too much.

** Now I had to do some research on this for my benefit, and probably for you as well Pete. Hair Straighteners, some times known as GHD's are a sort of double sided iron for styling your hair. :ugeek: :ugeek:

I'll just stick with Gillette............
