Classic motorcycle mechanics turbo article, absolute load of tosh. Basically a rehash of an article from another magazine from last year ommiting the correct details and getting lots of details wrong,

Same engine as gs650 just with a turbo - really ?
Roller bearing crank - really?
Around 1200 made - how much more difficult is it to type 1153 ! Grrrr
Turbo really doesnt make a difference - really ?

The bloke is a complete tosser (my personal opinion - not the opinion of this club/site) if he reads this he is welcome to email me or pop around for an arm wrestle.
I wonder if he actually saw or rode the bikes as everything seems so incidental I'm not convinced he actually got there !

The 3 turbo bikes are from the chap in spain (again- yawn) who does classic bike tours, got himself a big plug (again) and a fair size advert for free no doubt. If I could have made the bikes out past the little freebie mag about future classics which was stuck to the front I would never have bought it. Actually the little free mag was more interesting than the actual mag it was given away with.

When will these journalists learn that when your writing for a specialist magazine it is imperative to get your detail correct and not to just "probably" bag yourself a cheap weekend in the sun, drink cheap wine and write a load of crap.

Magazine now waiting to start the next chiminea session, never to be bought, borrowed, shoplifted or recommended to anybody ever.

Rant over :)

Thanks for the heads up Russ, I've been disinterested in CMM for a while now and now my newsagent has gone , it's too much trouble to search for it unless there is a relevant article in it.
I like you got fed up of machines from overseas filling the pages and a feature called mira files which meant they could reprint old features in their entirity , mistakes and all.

However the chap wouldn't have got the advert for free we know this from experience, they choose a machine to target , then contact service providers, clubs etc, and sell them a plot in the special edition. It's all just a marketing tool.

Do you intend to send in your reply to the letters page in cmm.?

and where on earth did he get the thirsty bit (32-35 mpg)

ask any tunnel rat what obrut was averaging in europe, (approx 45-50) and i dont think i was dawdling along that much (was i guys ??)

in addition the bits from owners was so limited that i dont think even with deadline looming (not passed when he was able to contact me) it was accurate to state about none sold etc in uk

shows how good a journo he is really,

H

may well be worth a letter, doubt it would be printed though !!
