My Central heating boiler decided to curl its toes up for good on Friday evening so after a bit of exploritory surgery, i decided it was dead-beyond repair.........

So down to the local highway robbers.....I mean heating firm to price up a replacement...........half an hour later and £700 lighter in the wallett the new Main 30HE bolier is in the back of the Volly and on its way to its new home for the next decade or so...........it'd better last 10

Took me all yesterday and today to fit the fookin thing............And before anyone asks, Yes i am Corgi regd...............or is poodle regd.

All working and the house is starting to warm back up again............

think yourself lucky bob, anyonelse it would have cost 2k for someone to fit it

yeah i got a quote from a so called m8 to fit it, and he wanted £400.............er no thanks!

Cost me about £30 in total for all the tubing and copper fittings............Plumbers......fookin robbin barstewards!

problem with people fitting their own without the right ticket is that if there is a problem that is down to the instalation, that affects your neighbours property, then the liability for everything lies with the last guy to lay a spanner on it. not saying that you won have done a good job, but the gas regs are a minefield and the legal definition of competent isnt that you are able to do the job, legaly, with regards to gas work, competence is based on holding the relevant piece of paper. also, your investment in your new boiler might be at risk, cos you cant register the warranty for it without filling in and sending back the benchmark paperwork, and you cant send back the benchmark paperwork unless you are gas safe registered. in short, if its not fitted by a gs installer, then the warranty is invalidated!!

i could have got you some decent discount on a boiler, unless you have a mate in the supply trade.

Cheers john.....I needed a boiler there and then, I couldnt wait for weeks with no heating or hot water...... my other m8 is coming round to check it over for me and sign the paperwork.... and make sure I havnt made any fatal mistakes.

I fitted the last one , and 10 years later I am still here!

And he passed that one off too!


If i have a problem, I could always send you the paperwork and you could sign it for me!
