Hi guys,

I've been having major probs with my pc & eventually had to take it back to factory settings.
I've got it almost back to how it was (working not infected) BUT when I visit certain sites not all of the features are available!!

Like on the spam posting I can't see the vid that I posted, a*seaboutface book I can't see any vids or games won't play....yet i can watch the vid on youtube.

Any ideas what setting/whatever I've missed....sometimes I fuggin hate 'puters

Check that you have the right video driver. You may need to update it to a newer version. do a windows update check to see if you need to download any updates.

good luck. I hate bike electrics !!!!!!

Think I found the culprit, my AV software..disable it & everything works again...

right next question which anti virus do you recommend?
I've tried all the usual suspects but none stop the buggers getting thru'...I've even paid for 1 or 2  shock horror, me paying for software, never heard of usually.

It'll help if we know what one you're using (and if you say Norton, best of luck in taking that off).

I use Avast on the laptop, works well enough and is free of course.

I used to use Kaporsky(spelling) but it slowed my puter down too much. AVG did the same. Nowadays i use Windows free one - Microsoft security Essentials. Never had any problems with it. It has stopped about 3 virus's since i have used it. Doesnt slow my computer down at all and ITS FREE !!!!!

Dont forget to completley remove all other anti virus progs.

It's still there (hiding in the background) if you use their tool :D

Use the tool by all means and then go to control panel>add/remove programs and take out anything that has the word Norton or Symantec in it.

After a restart, see if it's better at loading up, if not, click the windows icon>run and type msconfig into the box, then you can turn off all the crap you don't need to boot up on startup (things like printer drivers, MSN messenger and all that, you can start all that up by yourself when you want to), but most importantly all the Norton/Symantec stuff which is still there.
