Re: BWHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA
A few weeks ago i started working as the mechanic for this motorcycle dispatch company and the previous mechanic gave me a very good tip. Stick a post it note on the tank everytime you fit a new tyre. BE CAREFULL!

Re: BWHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA
its not an oily residue. when new tyres are made, the manufacturers use a silicone release agent in the mold, otherwise they would never get the tyres out of the mold, imagine rubber a compound designed to be grippy bonded by heat into a mold with the tread pattern molded into it to help it stick. if they didnt use the silicone agent then remopving the tyre which would be bloody hot too, would involve the mold tearing great chunks out of the tread. when they tyre cools, its this silicone residue that is coating the very top layer of rubber, and thus care needs to be taken till its all scrubbed off.
of course, some folk, as the film shows, just always know better!!!!

Re: BWHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA
As far as I know Conti are using a new technology on one of their tyres/mould combinations (micro-rough surface, something like that...) to get the rubber out of the mould. Time needed for break-in of the tyre not worth mentioning any more.
Technology is called Traktion Skin, used on the ContiRoadAttack 2

Re: BWHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Had some new tyres fitted to the Speed Trip last year at HMT Tyres in Norwich, as I was paying for them the words of advice were..."Don't join our exclusive club; and drop the bike at the gate!"
Seems race reps are prone to it

Re: BWHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I used to scrub in tyres in a lap, complete with release agent and the sticker still on them
Not sure i'd be confident to do it now though.....................................maybe take 2 laps
