Technical references section? Discussion please!
Just came across the idea that we should have a section with technical references in the board?
The idea is just posting tech spec stuff and not do discussion there, just to keep it readable and make it easier to find things. All the items that are frequently asked could find a home there.
Could be made with sub-sections like Electrickery, engines, running gear, possible swaps with other models' parts etc. maybe referring to the different models? Maybe with a link to a project if a certain thing has been done before?
Discussion please.

Damn fine idea. Like the Frankensteins guide to Oil cooled monsters on the OSS site. Maybe allocate to or have members volunteer for a specific model's details and swappability.

Really good idea, saves covering the same ground over and over, I personally need info on front end, rear end, engine swap, wife swap and a place to ditch the kids?

Sounds like a really valuable resource and contributors could be named, not for self blown ego trips, but as a deterant for those who 'think' they may be right, and also so any advice needed goes to the right person (hopefully ) without clogging up the wrong parts of the wrong forums.
...........and with that, I'll go stand under the stairs and eat worms...AGAIN ;O)

Hey Liam, you ask away mate!
We all have different experiences that have a value to someone or other. I know LOADS of shit........some of it proves useful once in a while lol. I don't think anyone ever minds how many times we ask each other for the same advice, it's great to help someone understand something that helps. I was a great mechanic, but only because of those who persevered with teaching me to be. All I did was listen enough times and keep asking . I can't spanner commercially anymore so it's all a waste of an education if it doesn't benefit others one day!
There's some fantastic folks on here all willing to advise, and I ask as many questions as I try to answer mate.
I think the idea being to have a simple data-base for us all to contribute and benefit from, my thoughts are just to give everyone an idea of who to ask for further info without it becoming a discussion forum, but maybe it'd be good to have another data base of our collective trades......I'll fix carbs all day long in exchange for someone who can teach me computing or French Polishing lol.
Have a great week everyone, may the sun warm the roads wherever you ride!

Re: Technical references section? Discussion please!
Maybe we could handle it as a kinda "Sticky thread", whenever something useful comes out in the relevant discussion areas, we could stick the essence in the tech references?
And as I understand it: if there's some info seen as non sufficiant, there's always the possibility of grabbing that info and ask for additional info in the discussion forum again...

I'll have a go at something later this week/possibly next week.
Our German exchange student arrives tomorrow, I've got the day off work to finish (ha!) painting the kitchen and making the house appear ok.

Re: Technical references section? Discussion please!
I kind of dissagree with this, but kind of agree too.
If a section is dedicated to answering all the question people ask then it becomes an info board, i don't think this forum is big enough for that, the result would be less people coming on with something to say.
BUT, we could have a section with model info, for example the specs of each model and the differences between model years and original country destinations.(I'd be happy to provide popup details) also there should be 2 knowledgable members that agree on details before the info is posted, that way we can be sure it's all correct..
As for the faq's then there's the search function or i certainly don't mind answering the same questions over. as the brain cells get older it keeps my memory alive
