Lovely bikes! Isn't the second one a Suzuki XN85 turbo? I would love to have one of those just for fun. Even thou I've heard the turbo was no good, it's a fun thing to have and take for a Sunday drive!

Yeah its probably reliable but thats not what you expect when the side-cover says "Turbo" . Actually i think it have kind of similar looks to the kat's and that front mudguard looks awfully a lot like the one the 550 kat have!

A couple of guys on here have them, "H" has one and I think its his most reliable bike, don't think that many were sold in the UK though.

The GPz 750 would probably be my choice if I was going for a tubbo.
That's not saying much to be honest.

hi,

the 85 did refer to the hp for the bike

as for most reliable (not always) though did do eurokat4 without toooo many hitches

others are all ok it's just the one i tend to use as the riding position is best for the failing wreck that is me

hey ho

Its a 673cc engine , max bhp 85 with around 57ft lb of torque (think vfr800) and about as reliable as anything else from that era i would say. Where as h*nda & kawaflippinsaki (I'll exclude the yam turbo as that was a dog) set out to gain more power regardless of much else, Suzuki if you believe what the techie info says set out to have the economy of a smaller engine with the power of a larger engine when it was required and with the gs1000 of the day producing around 90hp they were not far off the mark.
As for the mud guard it may be a bit of a stretch to get that 16" one around a 19" wheel :)
Mine will show an indicated 130 before mr 12psi boost limiter kicks in and crushes me nuts against the tank
Lots of parts are specific to this bike only and its a complicated bike even by todays standards, but more importantly its fun to ride, is plenty quick enough and handles really well for a 27 year old barge.

History lesson over. . . . .. . . . . .

Oh seeing as its a new forum . . . . . is the XN85 still a Kat ????? !
