Kat has passed.

Post by davementia » Sat May 11, 2013 8:22 pm

:D well a good day today, the kat passed the mot with just 1 minor advisory - slight fork seal leak. Got it taxed and over the moon. The bike feels really quick but runs rough on tick over, once you open the throttle it just goes and sounds great. The previous owner is now deceased and i bought it off his son. His son always said that it may have been modified but didnt know any more than that, so i have no idea. It may be that im used to riding the 750 and this is just that more powerfull.
Regarding the rough and uneven tick over im going to take carbs off again.
I dont want to spend any money yet so how far do i go with the carbs has anyone got any pointers as i just want to ride i've already had the bowls off and used air to clean jets i could see but they seemed pretty clean, no residue even though it had been standing for a few years.
Look forward to any comments.
Cheers all

You might want to see if they are balanced first. They might be out.

Haven' t checked carb balancing but the bike was in regular use before , new filter fitted exhaust is harris as members identified for me. I must say the throttle has instant responce once past idling.

Check the rubbers are ok on the inlets. Also check the big seals on the inlet stubs are ok and not leaking. I would do a carb balance first though.easiest things first ;)

There aren't any inlet stub orings on these engines... Check for cracks on the rubbers though
