New Helmet...

My 17 year old shark XRF has given me a sign...it's started to empty its foam lining into my scalp in powder form every time i wear it.
So with the pending purchase of a matching pair lol...any recommendations?
Not too bothered about fancy vent systems as the noise they create is never offset by the comfort they provide and hearing loss is largely permanent.
(Too old for a bandit by the way!)

You wear a 17 year old lid!!!! WTF?

Well there's a saying if you have a £30 head, wear a £30 crash helmet...........

I have a Caberg flip front lid.....and a HJC helmet.........

Arai make good lids and so do AGV...... each to his own really!

But you get what you pay for! ;-)

Ha ha it was only a year old and cost £130 back then....before it was bagged up and put in the loft.
It's still in mint condition apart from a thin layer of foam starting to deteriorate. I had a couple of AGV's in the 70's and they were the comfiest ever but standards have changed since, some for the better and some for the worst. I know about the pedigree of arai and shoei etc. but i'm not convinced they are the be all and end all.
Ones that have caught my attention are caberg, schuberth, roof, and marushin .

My advice is rather than find the cheapest online, pop down to your local independent, and try on a variety of helmets, as its amazing how the different brands feel, and fit. But, more importantly if you are happy with the service and advice you get, buy from them.
I've just bought an Arai Chaser V, but I have a nice Caberg with built in shades, for touring.
Not sure where you are located but the 'Bikestop' in stevenage Herts, is a fabulous shop, with friendly, enthusiastic staff, and prices as good if not better than any online box shifter! (no I dont work there, just like to support good local businesses!!!)

I do like the Shoei pinlock visor - never had a "fogging" problem since using that system - currently I have the Qwest and a RAID 2 before that. I did have a Roof Boxer II but when the chin bar was down my chin used to touch it and visor never sealed properly, so sold it on, but it did look good!

Gotta disagree about the Roof...I love mine and it's the quietest helmet by far I've ever used. Always got on well with shoei too..each to their own I guess
