If only I had listened to Fossie, just ride and leave the bling to someone else...
So took the right hand engine cover of for blasting and polishing, as usual all the screws came out fine, no drama until the last one, as usual, which snapped off even after some heat was applied first cause I could feel it was tight...
It's recessed in the hole as locating dowel goes there as well. A problem for another day, but I don't think I have the correct tools to fix.
