This must almost be a record for a Katana (excluding the prototype which went to the US for around £10k several years ago)

Sale price includes the buyers premium.

That must be a standard vehicle description they use as I've seen them use that before.

the brand new still in a packing crate 1981 1100 that sold a few years back went for iirc a fiver under 13k, ended up in the private collection of that american guy who claims to have one of every katana model and colour derivative.

Ken Edgar. He bought the prototype as well. Was the 13k £ or $? I thought it was a US one, though that was years ago so still a lot either way!

Yep that was the one... MCN carried out the auction , they asked me personally what it was worth, when I said , it's in a box and says GS1000S , it may be an ice cream van......or a yank 1000Kat but as a yank one it has CV. Carbs therefore not worth what you think , but I know a chap has insurance for 13K on a new in box UK. Kat .....they ignored everything and wrote that I said it was worth 13K ......
When would I have ever said any bike is worth more that £

1750!
So Ken bought a yank thou that was exported to UK , he paid fees , export , import fees for a box that may just be concrete blocks.......once he opens the crate it looses its OMG factor!

It wasn't 100% authentic. One of the pics shows those NINTA after-market indicators. I bought some for my ESD a month ago and they aren't accurate copies of the originals. A small detail but you have to wonder how original the bike is.
