I would have probably gone for 1.5mm (21A at 12V), but 1mm (16.5A would do as well I would think). I have used AutoStar on Ebay for the proper spade connectors (and other plugs) and they were good. I also bought the crimp tool from them as I'm sure it will come in useful again (though I crimped then soldered just to make sure (and because I have a proper Weller Soldering Iron from my first job out of Poly back in the early 90's that I acquired!))
