Ouch!

Post by PaulD » Sun Jan 12, 2020 8:36 pm

Well wot a total twonk  a friend of mine has given me a mountain bike, it’s a good un too with a thousand gears and disc brakes. I went and bought a set of lights, a bell and a lock for it today. So I went out tonight for a ride round with my new lights blazing away. Near where I live there is a sloping pathway with a 4 foot brick wall on both sides and barriers set on alternate sides to stop pillocks like me from riding pushbikes down the slope. Now I might be getting on a bit but I’m still 18 between the ears so I think, this is easy I can do this no problem! After passing the first barrier it dawns on me that there ain’t much room between the barrier and brick wall. I had got a fair head of steam up and a slight wobble made me clip the barrier with the front brake lever
Now these modern disc brakes are pretty good, so good in fact that I went straight over the feckkin handlebars and into the brick wall. Tha bike then landed on me as I went sliding down the footpath only stopping when I hit the next barrier  luckily it was dark and no one saw me
Bruised and battered but still alive (just)
There rubbish them Jap bikes lad they won't last five minutes! you want to get yourself a nice Royal Enfield!
A quote from my old dad 8-)

I started out with nothing and I’ve got most of it left!

Oh dear, hope you heal quickly - should you actually be let out?

I had a bicycle off myself about 18 months ago. The daughter didn't want to go with me, so I went off on my own which probably meant I went a little faster. A couple of miles from home I turned off a country road and into a farm where a track goes through it. The farmer had decided to top his concrete farm yard with stone chippings and as soon as I hit them cranked over slightly down I went in about 2 nano seconds and I also felt my face drag along the ground. I got up with bloodied hands and I could feel blood running down my face and all I had was one small tissue to try and mop it up!
As the missus doesn't drive I then had to cycle back the 2 miles looking like , well not sure, but not very good. Luckily the facial wounds were superficial in the end once I could see them, but the hand ones were a bit nasty and took a while to heal.

Anyway, I think we are safer sticking to motorbikes, far less dangerous.

Sounds nasty, but you might of made a couple of hundred quid on you've been framed if you had a video?
I now spin on fixed bikes in a nice warm gym....after fracturing my pelvis two years ago falling off a road bike at silly speed.
Two wheels should be powered by a large engine, not legs.
Lesson learned.
