Look what I bought............

Post by geekay » Sun Jul 19, 2020 8:22 pm

not a Katana, but a very close cousin of the GSX250S Kat.............

Image

it's a Suzuki GSX250F Across, in many bits. Red lined at 16500 rpm. Fuel tank under the seat has an electronic filler cap flap operated by a separate key position on the ignition switch. The dummy tank at the front is a storage bin, again operated electronically, that can accommodate a full face helmet with ease. Worryingly, the carbs are also electronically controlled............. :o

If it wasn't for coming back from the pub half cut I wouldn't have my beautiful 250 Katana sitting outside :) there are some videos on you tube showing this bike, strangely a lot of them seem to be from Australia, guess that when the Japanese get bored with them they send them to the nearest country (they share kmh clocks as well) apparently you can fit a full face helmet in the ''tank box'' good luck with the build (especially the carbs) hope its all there!

I studied the photo's (after I had won the auction) and can account for most of the major bits. The body work was my main cause for concern but everything seems to be present except for the piece that joins the 2 fairing upper halves (which the vendor said were missing). May be hidden somewhere else (hopefully).
It will go into my storage container until I have my 250 Katana sorted and roadworthy.

You can fit the traffic cone in the ''tank'' and place it where you want to park, cars don't park where there's a traffic cone.

that's a very good idea Pookie.
TBH I never noticed the cone until Fossie mentioned it.
I will find out on Sunday, when I go and collect it.

Cool ! If it came with the bike then maybe check the oil ways as it had a serious thirst .
But it is a nice thing, worth the purchase.

even cooler than the cone - I also received a photocopy of the genuine Suzuki Across workshop manual.

In ENGLISH

rare for a Japanese domestic market bike.
