40th Anniversary - curious

Post by Nitrous » Fri Sep 25, 2020 1:08 pm

When would you say is the 40th Anniversary. In 1980 when the prototype was completed and introduced, or 1981 when the first models rolled off the production line.
ED-2 mock-up was finished in April 1980, presentation to Hamatsu in May 1980 and the bike shown in Cologne in autumn 1980.
I live with FEAR everyday, but on Sunday's she let's me ride my bike...

Start April 2020, keep going into 2021 with the production models available and on into 2022 (mine was built in 1982).
Then on to 2024 for the Pop Up.... :D :D

It's got to be 81 . The prototypes are just that . Birthdays are for when people were introduced to the world not when the parents practiced! :? ;)

I took my 1973 T500 for it’s mot the other day. Passed no problem, I know it’s exempt and I knew it was ok but a second set of eyes is a good thing in my opinion. After all what’s £25 when I’ve got peace of mind. I’ve heard tales of insurance company’s reducing payout because an exempt bike isn’t mot’d.
There rubbish them Jap bikes lad they won't last five minutes! you want to get yourself a nice Royal Enfield!
A quote from my old dad 8-)

I started out with nothing and I’ve got most of it left!

Jmac yours is actually on a W plate meaning it was registered before it was available ! But it also means that it may already be "free". Check the V5 .for the date they used from the dating letter.
