Well I’ve decided it’s hibernation time for beelzebitch. I’m sick of the bloody rain and filthy roads so that’s it until around March. Brimmed the tank with esso’s finest super ul and drained the carbs. Battery is in the workshop on the trickle charger. I bough a Vac Bag from Stafford show a few years back, mainly because the woman on the stall was a stunner and didn’t have many clothes on
It turned out to be a great idea if you haven’t got a heated garage. Just push the bike in, drop the huge bag of silicone beads under the bike and suck the air out using the missus hoover then tie it up with a couple of tie wraps. Snug and dry till spring

I have only ever drained the carbs once and due the o rings then shrinking, when it was time to fire her up they all leaked until I had left long enough for them to swell and do their job. I always use Sta-bil in the fuel and haven't had issues then leaving it (even on (dare I say it) the 400 Katana and we know what they are normally like).

I have some big bags as well - better really try and get mine done...

How did you sort your trickle charger? I'm sure you were talking about a solar one a year or 2 back.

Well I was telling a little white lie re the carbs I didn’t actually drain them I just disconnected the fuel line and run the motor until it stopped. The solar charger has worked a treat all year, I just screwed the panel to the garage roof and thread the wire into the garage, but as I can’t leave it connected while it’s in the bag I use a Motobatt optimiser dooh dah to keep the battery healthy.

I have ordered some Star Tron additive which is meant to be good for counteracting ethanol. Those vac bags are good. I kept my X7 in one last winter in my leaky shed. No corrosion at all.

I have Tinykat as my winter bike (dry days only). It can't look any worse.
