As part of my French bike insurance I am a member of club 14, absolutely no idea either' :)
Anyway I get newsletter in email form bi monthly which usually offers me an airbag Gillet for 200 ish euros or stuff I really don't need...
However this time there were a few articles .....The one that I refer to in the title is ...
For 5 years the French government have been conducting a trial about filtering ...in that they know bikers do it and want to know about benefits , safety etc ...anyway after 5 years there was no satifactory conclusion.
So they are now going to do another survey for 2 years but this time including FEMA , club 14 , and various other clubs .

Now for the positive point ...they will change the driving tests to include filtering for bikers and car drivers to be aware ..
Positive yes but everyone knows that French drivers already know and make room.
Hey keeps the beurocrates happy!

They are all at it! Now the Spanish are considering compulsory rider airbag vests :o
The French riders are not happy with the proposal because once one EU country adopts a policy the others will follow....the French law of compulsory Gloves has been adopted everywhere which other countries are unhappy about... :)

We Germans don't have to wear gloves but still aren't allowed to filter no matter other nations in the EU are totally fine with it. German car drivers hate other traffic to be faster and tend to open the doors in a traffic jam rather than pull aside. As cars and their drivers are an important factor in German economy, if not the most, we won't have any laws affecting those.

A driver opening a door to stop filtering over here would likley end up with a very sore nose......

Our experiences of German drivers and us filtering on the whole are positive, most trucks on autobahns moved over to straddle the hard shoulder to give us room and although most cars didn't move over they didn't impede us , the one that stands out was an Audi ..(.yeah really who'd have thought! ) sparki offered him some advise in the form of a stare from along side , he finally moved over and the other car drivers cheered :D .
The main issues in Germany to be honest the lanes are narrower than ours on motorways and the fact that trucks are restricted on some motorways to the inside lane only means as you approach a junction as a group filtering you can't easily get everyone across. You don't make that error after though! ;)

i think that no matter how anti filtering you might be, theres a difference between opening your door on one bike bearing down on you from behind, and opening the door on 10 or 15 bikes rapidly aproaching you from the rear.....
