Right
I know this going to shock a few folk, but......
...I have got to the stage with Skruffy Kat where I have yto see if it will run!
I connected up the battery and with the plugs out spun the motor over to prove the oil pressure. But with no luck. Went hrough all the checks with the wiring and the switch, no faults.
With the oil pressure switch removed I spun over the motor but no oil appeared at the hole for the switch. Now when I spin over the motor the oil level in the sight window goes down so I think the pump is operating, but the Pressure regulator is just dumping oil back into the sump.
So my question is.....
...does any one have any tricks to maybe re-seat the oil regulator valve with out dropping off the exhaust and the sump plate before I go down that route?
Cheers

Re: Oil Pressure on a 750
Check the strainer and filter. Do the 750s still have the oil gallery behind the barrels blanked under the alt cover? Finally, take the clutch out and make sure that someone hasn't had the oil pump drive gears off it (popular. Mod for gs/gsx 1000/1100s.) 750s are shell cranks so oil pressure needs to be right..

Re: Oil Pressure on a 750
Hi John
Well you were close to the truth in one respect.
I had checked the strainer and the relief valve when I went through the engine. But it was the bit I didn't check!
The engine was from some one who was on the old forum but not this one. He had looked at using some of the bits for his 1000 engine (alternator, clutch and starter motor) but he omitted to tell me that he also had the oil pump in his sights! I checked the gears drove the pump-which they did- but missed the fact that the circlip/snap ring was missing. Doh!
When I took the clutch cover off and the clutch out, the oil pump gear and drive pin fell off.
So just waiting for a spare O ring for the pump and a clip so I can re-assemble it and get some oil pressure. have dropped the sump to confirm the clip isn't sittting waiting to bite my AR53 when then engine is finally running.
Clearly the drop in oil level when I spun over the engine was due to oil being dragged up by the clutch pack, and not as thought by the pump pulling in oil.
Lesson learned!
