650 kat - rear wheel drive plate bolt thing removal

Post by sparki » Sat Apr 06, 2013 12:12 pm

need help before i set about this thing with a hammer plse...

wheels need blasting so i want to strip them down so as not to get blast media into all the nooks and crannies... the drive plate/bevel/thing in the back wheel has 6 bolts holding it on with locking tabs. bent those back and the first bolt i try to remove snaps..... tried a second and it does the same. looks like there's perenant loctite or similar on the threads as they're pinkish and powdery... question is, is this normal or have i got a wheel put together by an idiot... or worse still, am i doing something wrong.

cheers :)

cheers fossie - looks like i'll need to take you up on that offer if still there :)

tried it with heat today and out of the 6 bolts... 5 snapped. long and the short of it, i think i'll just leave all that gumph in place and paint the next one myself... when you get a change can you let me know what you'd like for it please and maybe stick a little cardboard around it so i can arrange a courier to swing by and collect it?

cheers m8

:) bit by bit eh... Tbh as long as the wheel is straight and not been attacked by some spanner wielding Maniac I'm sure it'll be fine. No need to drag it along :)
