650 clutch

Post by sparki » Sun Oct 25, 2015 9:59 am

anyone with experience of 650 clutches?... cue Fossie :)

how much play is there meant to be on the centre clutch pinion shafy that goes through the pressure plate on these engines? i have loads... 10 ish mm which i'm sure is not right. ive looked though manual and cant see if it lists the correct number of plates that are meant to be in there... at the moment there are 8 fibre and 7 steels... then theres the std suzuki piano wire lot at th e bottom of the basket (i haven't pulled this apart but the book tells me there's 3 of something or other in there). the plates i have fill up the basket alright and the pressure plate bolts up to "look" ok but not sure...

the manual also mention the springs (pressure plate springs) as need replacing in pairs? (inner and outer?) not sure thats right either... valves have 2 springs but a pressure plate having two springs per bolt? this is page 80 of the manual where it's measuring tolerances...

anyway, if anyone can tell me what THEY have or where i've clearly gone wrong it'd be most appreciated please :)

cheers
Steve
