I recently purchased a replacement cable from hi-lex (whoever they are), decent quality but had problems routing it without the action becoming very tight. Decided to compare it with the original and found it to be nearly 7 inches longer.
Now in some circumstances an extra 7 inches would be very welcome, but in this case it was a problem.
The original cable is about 4' 5" in old money. the replacement is 4' 11" .Is my only way out to get a genuine Suzuki (if available)
or does anyone know of a supplier that can guarantee .the correct dimensions.
No rush for this. Winter draws on!

Re: 650 clutch cable
The problem with aftermarket 650 clutch cables is that they are generic so also the GL model as in custom high bar.
There are 2 actual cables but most suppliers don't recognise this.
When I was dispatching 650 all the time I used genuine cables , they are more expensive but fit and last twice as long.
Wemoto offer a cable for £14.05 plus post but it is wrong it can be returned.
The alternative would be get venhill to make one up.

Re: 650 clutch cable
always use oe clutch and throttle cables. aftermarket are generally shite and never as smooth imo
Re: 650 clutch cable
Had it confirmed that the original 650 clutch cable was superceeded by the longer version under a "one size fits all" policy.
Been quoted £40 by Venhill. Thought about it and then had another go at fitting the new one. With some constructive re-routing I managed to get a workable action on the lever, so I think I'll live with that, In fairness there is no issue with the quality of the product, just the length. ...................................................................(leave room for inuendos)

Re: 650 clutch cable
If you're in the UK, last time I checked, Robinsons Foundry still sold genuine Suzuki clutch cables.
A few years ago, I too bought a cheap Hi-lex cable off Ebay since it was about a third of the price of the genuine Suzuki cable.
However, it turned out to be a false economy. First of all it was too long, as you noted. Secondly, It fell apart and self destructed within a month. The outer casing just disintegrated and the cable seized.
As mention by sparki, the genuine Suzuki ones may cost more, but they will last for several years and work properly without falling apart.
