Re: H ! . . turbo trouble !!!!!!!!!!!
Nope !
Its not a proper race mode as in "switch" its an engineer mode/convoluted way to stop it cutting out until 26psi boost which is 1.76bar as opposed to the standard 10.5psi or 0.71 bar. I dont think they would last long running that boost especially on normal fuel. Never ridden one or seen one on the road even, but with 112bhp they must be a quick machine for their day.

Re: H ! . . turbo trouble !!!!!!!!!!!
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
sorted the stuck waste gate but still getting the 12psi cut only a little later after showing full boost on the dash gauge, the dash gauge shows full at 8psi, suzuki quote figures for normal boost at 10.6psi.
I've removed the plumbing and physically pumped up the waste gate and all its working fine, the pipe going to it is also fine.
If I hadnt done such a good job of fitting the exhaust and stopping it blowing I wouldn't have this trouble
It still shows an indicated 115 while feathering the throttle to stop the injectors cutting at 12psi boost !
(yes thats all done off road officer)
So probably the manifold pressure sensor/regulator then. . . . . time to get my 1 bar gauge plumbed in and see exactly if its cutting at 12psi boost or cutting early and hence a faulty sensor. But I dont think its cutting in early because the bike is flying at the moment - if thats the case where is ALL the BOOST coming from ????

Re: H ! . . turbo trouble !!!!!!!!!!!
if you loosen the exhaust, will it run fine ? perhaps its your pipe thats causing the problem ?
my standard kwak will not run full boost with standard cans, my old modded one needed a race pipe and race mode to run at 18 psi.

Re: H ! . . turbo trouble !!!!!!!!!!!
Its not the standard pipe thats the problem as you can throw marbles down it, lot of money for an empty pipe !
Before I did the exhaust the 4 down pipes were blowing at the collector as it was not fixed in the correct position.
After fitting a 1 bar gauge inline with the actuator and a 20 mile test ride I could see that the injectors cut at 12psi every time (which coincided with about 8700 revs in 3rd 4th and top) After a bit of digging around I found the wastegate was still a bit "sticky" but working. The problem turned out to be the wastegate actuator which had been damaged at some point and the connection tube had cracked around the joint so was bleeding off the pressure and so not opening the wastegate. (previously bodged up with resin or superglue by the look of it)
I have now stripped the actuator off the turbo and will get the one off my spare bike and check that before fitting it.
1 bar gauge to check boost accurately when riding as the digital boost gauge will max out at 8psi

Anybody know for a good plumber !

The air flow meter, turbo and wastegate actuator in the centre

Broken pressure pipe on the actuator, when removed and cleaned off it appears that somebody had coated it in resin/superglue to seal it at some time.

Time to break out the spare parts bike and maybe get this one repaired.

Re: H ! . . turbo trouble !!!!!!!!!!!
Finally got time to rob the wastegate actuator off the spare bike and its 100%.
I Fitted it last weekend and road tested it today, all is well and it opens at 8psi on the accurate 1 bar guage from around 5000rpm and holds it all the way. 8psi is standard boost pressure and is a little conservative. Rally this weekend so no time to play with it but will be soon be getting it to run at 10 or 11 psi which is quite easily done. If you got a turbo you may as well use the little bugger !
XN and 550 kat all cleaned, lubed and juiced up for tomorrrows ride to the rally, only 75 miles but it will be good to have them out at the same time again and maybe we will bump into Brian . . . . or fall over his tent maybe.
