That is what I need some good Karma.
For the choke, I simply never use it hot or cold. I should definitely start, basically I do not believe it is working so I never use it.
I tryed once or twice but I need to jingle with the cable which seems to bit stuck in the linkage, so I gave up quickly enough.
The mixture screw was turn following the manual, I don't remember the figure.
I will swap the choke cable when I will back home, in about 1 weeks
I have to say I would love to have a bike working at anytime, at the moment it is not quite the case
Once it took me 45 minutes to start her up, I even thought about getting something else. But I change my mine when she started....

Yes,your choke cable is wrongly routed but from the pics doesn't look like it's partially on or anything so it's a minor point. It routes over the top as Mick says.
Sadly it really does sound like you'll have to take the carbs off (again!!) to sort this properly.

Re: Cold start problem on Kat 400 ssn
I have not got a chance to do any modification. But last week I started a new start technic, I pushed down hill:-)
Basically 2 times last week and 1 time this week, she did not wanted to start so I decide to push and she does start.
So I am thinking the battery could be on her way out, which does not help if I don't use the choke I suppose.
So I am going to see if I can get myself a new battery this week to try start to fix the problem.

It is very possible the battery , it is really a small ampage batteryand with it being a sealed for life jobby if left too long , as in 3 months unused it will deterioate.
Also the CDi on these 250/400 are known to cause bad starting , sometimes they will not start on the button but will bump start no problem. See my thread in jacked off in tech section.

It could really well be the problem, this evening no start after 3 or 4 try so I decide to push down hill.
It was started after 20 meters no problem, I will get a battery on thursday and I will take it from their.

Arnaud, you could always try a jump from a car battery. Dont leave the bike one in there though, just connect the wires to the jump leads. Also, get your battery tested first before you go buying a new one.

NO don't jump start a 400 from a car battery with the car running , the CDI will go all Air Quantas on you and refuse to fly , it will however fry.
The ampage on the 400 is is only 9 amp per hour ina seal battery car aph many times that !.

Is that so Fossie ? I jumped my 400 Impulse loads of times when i first got it and it never suffered any ill effects.
Although i would agree you shouldnt do it with the car RUNNING.
