current owner bought it from dave weaver, well, he didnt buy it, he swapped it for a tidy rg500, dave was looking for an rg500 and the guy with the kat now had one and did him a deal, so you should probably ask what a tidy original rg500 is worth to figure what he paid for it. and im sure that dave didnt pay anything like that when he bought the fe kat.

I think the previous owner swapped it for a RG500? So the current owner would want £9-£10k at least as I guess RGs go for that. There was a post about it all but on the old dead forum. I think the owner before that (Nick?) did pipe in and I think he said that the lack of power was annoying - I think it's around 94bhp as opposed to the 111bph ish of a proper one ;-)

If you are looking for investment then the UK 1000 is your best bet really, though I think the last one I saw (that actually sold) was about £6k on ebay.

As an aside those Ebay adverts that say "blue chip investment" or the like really annoy when they are attached to something that is over priced to start with. It's like saying Gold is a good investment, I have some at twice the current going price, buy form me! Yes it will go up most likely but if you are paying twice as much as the going rate (looking at what actually sells) then you have a longer wait... Rant over.

a bikes only worth 10 grand when the cheque clears, till then, its just what the seller wants. i saw an ad today for a uk spec 1000 sz and the seller (a dealer in classic bikes) wants £12,500 for it. having said thaat, he has been wanting that for it for a while so i will leave it to you as to whether it is 'worth' it.
