550 carbs

Pretty sure that the idle mixture screws on the 550 should be 3 1/2 turns out.
Screw in for weaker and out for richer

Can anyone confirm ? It doesnt say in my cd manual.

Never had any of mine at 3 1/2 turns always 1 1/2 to 1 3/4. But that is a 650 , seems a lot though.

did you get a chance to get the right synchro tools?

can you not just buy the metal threaded bits? and replace you platic one by this one Pete?

Bobster is right, you need the tool for the job and then its a fiddy job as they move as you tighten the lock nut, dont forget its air cooled and will cook after 10 minutes of fiddling so let it cool, have a cup of tea then go back for another go

All set for Monday(cant do it till the kids are at school - to many distractions). DONT ask me how long it took to get the inside left one threaded in !! I think the thread has been stripped at some time and will need looking at at some point.
