More caliper pics as requested.
The old pads measure 72 x 46mm so they are FA065.
The only other possible oddity is that there are spacers between the fork mounting and the fixed caliper bracket.

OK. They look pretty much like the calipers fitted to the ED1 and ED2 GS/GSX's.

So the FA065 pads should fit. And the little rubber boots you got should also fit if you ordered for a 550MX.

When you get your new pads mount the pad carrier (the horseshoe shaped bit) onto the fork with its non Suzuki spacers, then fit the pads with the guide shims/springs and take a photo and post up here.
What you are looking for is the pad material making maximum area contact with disc but without fouling on the disc inner.

The rubber boot will fit one end over the nut that the bolt screws into. The other end I seem to recall just squeegees up against the pad carrier.

As you can guess from Rob's comment I'm not at home at the moment and cannot get to look at the spare calipers I have in the shed.

Thanks Jim. Will do.
The rubber boots - the bigger end fits over the nut as you say, the smaller end actually fits inside a groove in the pad carrier, so it seals at both ends. However, the boot on the 550 fiche is different, although there is no indication that Suzuki ever replaced it (there is only one part number listed).

Just realised- I posted a pic of both types on the previous page...

Hah! Yes remembered now. Fit the smaller end of the rubber boot into the pad carrier, then the nut into the wider end (at the correct orientation for the flat to engage on the caliper body) then offer up the caliper to the pad carrier and fit the axle bolts (as Suzuki call them).

Looking at CMS-NL again those boots are are all the same part number across the range that these calipers are fitted to. But CMS-NL shows a picture that looks correct. Not sure if you have been supplied with the correct item. Contact whoever sold you them.

FA065 pads arrived, so I mocked up one caliper and bolted it on.
The pads seem to cover the swept area ok.
The pad carrier needed a bit of shimming to line it up correctly with the disc.
So - getting there slowly.
Just need to find the mystery rubber boots now...

The boot mystery thickens...
Several suppliers list the part number (59312-49000) but those that show a picture show either one of two different designs.
CMS and Wemoto show the part I want with a lip at either end.
CMS apparently have them in stock so I've ordered a couple.
Fingers crossed.
